Preparing for Tryouts

Trying out for the badminton team can be nerve-wracking, especially if you're a freshman walking into the gym for the first time. The courts will be buzzing with activity, people you may not know yet will be warming up, and it can feel overwhelming. But don't worry—everyone starts somewhere. The captains and coaches are here to support you.

To help you prepare, the captains will be hosting a pre-season conditioning program. This will include light training, basic drills, and team bonding exercises. Attending this gives you not only a better chance to improve your skills before tryouts, but also an opportunity to show your commitment and learn what it means to be part of the Tino Badminton family.

What to Bring to Tryouts

  • Non-marking court shoes (required)
  • Water bottle (stay hydrated!)
  • Athletic clothing (comfortable and breathable)
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Racket (if you have one, but not required)

What We'll Evaluate

  • Footwork and court movement
  • Shot accuracy and consistency
  • Stamina and physical fitness
  • Attitude and coachability
  • Game sense and strategy

Tryouts usually span several days, so pace yourself and stay consistent. Show up every day ready to give your best effort!
